If you don't want to hear/read it, don't. That's why it's under a cut.
If you want to comment, that's fine. That's why livejournals have comment features. But please... there is a difference between commenting and having a comment war. I'd rather not have the latter on my journal.
On 07 March 05, John R. Bolton - currently Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security - was nominated to be the United States Ambassador to the United Nations.
Having read the following document and heard what the man himself has to say, I personally disagree with the nomination.

This basically goes over the opposition in Congress' consideration of Bolton as a nominee.

This is a short movie showing video clips of Bolton speaking some of his viewpoints.
I agree that America is a driving force in the world. That's pretty much indisputable. However, I also believe that it's important for us to work with other countries to help improve that world for everyone - including ourselves. Of course the United States wants to advance its own interests. But that shouldn't come in exchange for other nations' right to do the same. How can someone who disputes the very merit of the United Nations be expected to represent us well there?

In other news, my drive test is tomorrow morning and I'm terrified.
